We have the Kenai 45 – and thus far it has been great! However, we were dissappointed when the drain plug “dissappeared” – at this price point to not engineer a “leash” is super dissapointing! Would love to see the design improved!

Good Cooler but had to get a replacement.
Like the cooler but noticed a couple weeks ago the sides of the cooler was drawn in or sucked in for some reason. It’s always stored in my shed and kept out of the sun. Contacted Customer Service and they are sending a replacement.

Love this cooler! The color is fantastic! Love it!!
This cooler is awesome! The color is vibrant. It keeps things cold for way longer than my old coolers. The absolute best thing is it is only 16″ tall, so it fits under the tonneau cover of my Jeep Gladiator. Love it!! Thanks.

Amazing!
This thing is fantastic! 5 days in death valley and it still had ice when I got home. Absolutely love this cooler. Very happy with the purchase.

I’m never going back to cheap coolers.
This cooler works really well. It keeps stuff cold when ice is added. Chics dig it.

Perfect for the trails! Holds ice for 9-10 days

This Thing is a Beast!
Alright, so I bought this thing based on the reviews alone–I had never seen a Kenai-branded cooler until this one arrived. Couple of thoughts: First, delivery was WAY quicker than promised. We are in the area struck by Hurricane Ida, and I was ready to wait a week or more. It was a very pleasant surprise to find this big, beautiful orange monstrosity at my house just a couple of days after placing the order. Obviously, the delivery is mostly on Amazon, but it was a good way to start what I hope is a long-term relationship with my new, orange cooler. Second, this cooler is HUGE. Again, I hadn’t seen one live and in person, so I was not sure what to expect size-wise. It’s a big, heavy cooler–which is exactly what I needed. Also on the physical appearance: The orange color isn’t peach, bronze, or honey. It is a pure bright, gleaming, dazzling orange that can be seen from outer space. A brief aside: I chose the orange color because I work in telecommunications, and we have traditionally always had some form of orange accents on our uniforms, vehicles, etc. That tradition is our industry’s nod back to the United States Army Signal Corps (USASC) and its efforts over the past 160+ years, and this cooler’s orange color matches up closely with USASC’s branch insignia. Third, it has worked crazy well so far. I threw it in the back of my truck and filled it with ice on a Friday evening. It rode around in my truck bed (in temps reaching low 90s) over the weekend and into the following week. At this point, I’m 96 hours after filling it with ice, and it still has solid ice floating around in there. To be clear, I ignored the instructions about prepping and cooling it beforehand. I literally threw it in the truck and filled up with ice when I passed our work center that evening. I would assume its performance will get better once it is cooled and I get a system for replenishing the ice. For now, having cold drinks on-hand throughout my weekend of storm cleanup was far and above what I could have expected. Fourth, I would note again that this thing is BIG. I carried it in the back of my pickup for about 100 miles of full-speed driving before weighing it down with ice and drinks. It didn’t budge in my truck bed–zero worries about it bouncing out or whatever at 70 M.P.H. Once it was full, it would have taken enormous effort to even move it–much less to have it bounce around. It has sturdy rope handles on each end, and it has molded loops on each side to use for security (basically to pass a small chain or rope through to keep it tied down). Since my last cooler was stolen out of my truck bed, I invested in a bicycle lock cable that secures the cooler to the bed of my Tundra pickup. Obviously, the cable is not going to stop a dedicated thief, but hopefully it will slow down the ones who are just opportunistic. I also plan to use a Dremel tool to carve my contact information into the bottom or side. So far, my first week of Kenai cooler ownership has been pleasant. It’s a beast, and it appears to work exactly as advertised.

Great cooler
Love the quality, it keeps ice for a good while, it is a little heavy to carry when full but that’s to be expected

holds ice for a week in 100* +

Not worth the money. Terrible customer service.
I bought this as a birthday gift for my brother and am very disappointed. They take it to work and even in the shade of the work trailer, the ice still melts within hours. My Wal-Mart cooler lasts longer. I have contacted their customer service multiple times with absolutely zero response. Do not waste your money, go get one from Walmart or Academy instead.
Jill Kuenning –
Great Cooler. Keeps everything cold for days. Ice stays for at least 2 days, if not 3. I found this company because I refuse to support yeti. They stopped supporting the NRA a few years ago, and we are a gun loving, trap shooting, hunting family, so, Buh Bye yeti! I have 2 of these and 1 Grizzly. Great coolers.
KP –
Build quality is top notch. Finally found a made in USA cooler that’s built like a tank and priced better than a certain foreign made name brand you thought was made here.
Greg Staufenberg –
Holds ice very well even in the Florida heat and sun. My only dislike is there is no teather on the drain plug and it can be easy to lose.
Nicholas R. –
Made in America. All of the “premium” coolers keep ice for days. How many depends on a variety of factors. This one I’ve had ice last 3-5 days depending mostly on the temperature it’s sitting in. It’s durable, opens easy, drains easy and has a lot of space. I do wish it had a keeper for the drain plug but other than that it’s great. Most importantly for me, it’s USA made unlike the most popular brand premium cooler out there.
Lightfighter A 327 –
I love it! This is made to last forever. I am 227lbs and sat on it without it bowing inward or cracking. Could probably even stand on it if needed to get something up out of my reach. Thickness is great for insulating and keeping in the cold. I also purchased the divider to keep ice on one side for short trips. Note: The divider also can be put in the freezer because it is a plastic freeze pack. Also, it does not keep melting ice out of the opposite side. I use this strictly for offroad excursions and it fits in the back of our SxS Honda Talon perfectly. Has the rubber footing on all bottom corners that actually grip real well. Rubber latches hold lid down and kept mud and water out when we rode the Ozarks. This could also be utilized for dry storage. Variety of colors helped me pull the trigger on Kenai. Had to get the red. Love everything about this purchase. Keep up the great work And thanks for keeping it in the U.S.A.

Better than Yeti. My first foray into the high-end coolers and considered a Yeti due to name recognition, but saw the reviews for this and decided to go with it. Have taken it on several trips now, two of which the temp was over 90 on several days, and the cooler was left outside, sometimes in direct sunlight before it was moved to shade. Held ice so well! Some melting, but mostly intact after several days in these temps. My daughter had a smaller Yeti with ice (smaller, should hold ice better, less area to cool), and her ice melted quickly on those trips side by side with mine. She returned her Yeti. Love this cooler, highly recommended.
M. Stenny –
This is a great cooler, much cheaper than a yeti, and is bear-proof!!
Kimberly Mowry –
Ice lasts for days, great size, fits perfect in the Rzr which is why we bought it. Love the color too
Brandon –
Yeti equivalent – Cooler is just as good as the 2 Yetis I’ve had stolen. Thanks to the less popularity this one has survived the rath of the gas station bandits while stopped for snacks before boat outings. Ridden atop the 4runner for many 1k mile plus trips in sub zero weather and doubles as a spare seat in front of the center console on the boat in the hot Florida sun. And actually MADE in AMERICA. Just don’t sell out like yeti did and we will keep buying your coolers!
Stephan –
Great cooler with fantastic customer service and warranty. I have used the cooler for over 4 years now and finally had one strap break. I contacted customer service and had a replacement strap delivered free of charge as there warranty states. Great to know a company that stands behind there products. If I need another cooler I know it will be another KENai.
M. Rowe II –
Unbelievably impressed with this cooler! It’s just as, if not more so, tough than the Yeti coolers and a fraction of the price. I love that they’re made in the USA and have great customer service! Keeps food and drink cold for days. And plus it makes a great seat 😉 Highly recommended!
Colin Haas –
Compared directly with Yeti and a Grizzly on a few trips. Held ice the same, kept outside in the shade on the ground over multiple weekend camping trips in Washington Cascade mountains. Maybe there’s a bigger difference in 100 degree desert conditions, dunno. Don’t believe the marketing hype and yootube reviews of coolers – it’s pretty much propaganda to get your money. The Kenai USA MADE coolers are every bit as good as the others, cost less and supports USA industries and jobs.
Tina Duplayee –
This product is awesome. We took it camping for 3 days and the Ice was still in it. We didn’t have to get more. I’m sold on this product. Heads up it is heavy though
Susan Tyner –
Super Happy. Bought it for my husband and it is his favorite gift! Quality build and great value!
Steven Dickey –
outstanding, good looking, all good!
Charlie –
Best around. Excellent product.
J. Carter –
Used Once so far. We used this on a trip from the Canadian Border to Las Vegas. Three days in a car. It was end of September, so it was not hot out. Had to refill with ice a bit every day. I wasn’t trying to keep things frozen, just cold. Performed well.
Vicki Chamberlin –
This is a beautiful cooler, but doesn’t keep ice as well as I had hoped. We have a Cabelas that does a much better job. It would be a good value at about 1/2 the price in my opinion.
MF –
Pleasantly Surprised! Overall well designed and very solidly constructed. I also own a Yeti 75 but was looking for something smaller and cheaper that would fit in the back of an SUV more easily. Very solidly constructed and made in the USA unlike Yeti.
The only downside I can see compared to a Yeti is you can’t lock the lid closed. You can certainly lock it via a cable lock to a tree or something but there’s no hole to run a lock through to prevent someone from opening it. Another minor consideration that would possibly be a down side is the availability of replacement rubber latches should these eventually break. Yeti latches are easy to get and universal. Not sure about the Kenai latches but I plan to look into that.
Justin Behrman –
Took this on a road trip from Tennessee to California. Still had ice three days later. Set it outside in California with a temperature of 91 still cold but ice melted after 2 days. Very happy with it.
Keith T. –
I’m a lineman for a local power company and I use this cooler on my truck. It holds ice well, has been durable so far and is cheaper than other molded coolers. Most of all, made in the USA
Frederick P. Beltran –
If you want the ice to last, follow the recommended “prechilling” of the cooler. I prechilled it, loaded up the cooler with food, drinks, and ice and a full week later there was still ice floating in the water. The cooler was not sheltered from the sun or the inside of a hot vehicle and it performed much better than any cooler I have ever owned. Kenai coolers are a much better value than the better known brand and still made in the USA.
Karla –
Keeps everything cold!! We travel alot!! This cooler is amazing!! We also bought the divider too, great cooler!!
M. True –
The cooler itself keeps food and drinks COLD. It is a great value for the money; it’s half what a comparable Yeti cost! I’m very pleased with my purchase. And the lime green color is outstanding.
Gazelle –
Works great as it holds ice and keeps your food cold
Millman –
Great cooler, coming from a Coleman this holds ice much longer. A little condensate around the drain plug i noticed, but this cooler is exactly what I expected.
Max Kundert –
Really impressed by this cooler. Looks great in person, too.
Darrin Wegener –
Great product and great price.
Steph –
This is the best cooler we have ever had, even better than our Yeti! We used this on a week boat vacation. It sat out in the cockpit mostly in the shade. We would put a little bit of ice in every other day from our ice maker. There was always plenty of ice inside. We only had to drain some water 2x that week!
We also had a small yeti in the air conditioned cabin with drinks. That was always melted. It was a great comparison that week. So glad we bought this cooler!
Russell Velasco –
It’s a real good cooler for the money! Kept a 20 lb bag of ice for around 3 days, maybe a bit more. Good room inside. I’m real happy with it for half the cost of the other name brand cooler.
Steve –
After numerous hours of researching, we settled on this cooler for our camping trips. Now that we have been out multiple times we can confirm this thing is amazing. Holds ice for many days, has good handles for carrying, bottle opener and a drain which the Yeti does not.
If you are doing your research this one fits the bill.
Lorrie Haflett –
Just as good as the expensive coolers and half the price!
Michael Davis –
I liked the value of this cooler – Decent price for a lot of cooler. Plus, it is made in the USA. I only added ice a couple times on our 5 night camping trip. The cooler is heavier than I expected, but the 45 QT is a BIG cooler. I wasn’t camping in bear country, so the fact this cooler is not bear-rated makes little difference. Plus, if you’re in bear country, store your food and kitchen gear in your vehicle. The latches are in fact, quite secure for normal use. For the money, if you want a reliable roto-molded cooler that is well-constructed, I recommend this KENAI. They are made by the Grizzly Cooler Company in Iowa. Fast shipping, lots of color choices and the best value I found from my research.
Mark –
Exceeded my expectations

I first looked at both Yeti and Arctic units… mainly because they both do an exceptional job at marketing their products! The reviews on the Kenai were very good so I gave it a try.
You will see many reviews saying that new owners of the Kenai unit have tried competitive brands in the past and found that after a few hours, the ice they put in the units had melted. They go on to say that their experience with the Kenai was the complete opposite. I have not used a Yeti or Arctic but can attest to the quality of the Kenai.
Offering a bit of data… first, we did but the cooler insert/divider which I also strongly recommend. Not because it’s “icier” than any others but because it fits very nicely in this unit. Two weeks ago we drove 14 hours from the Northeast US to the Southeast US and the outside temps we over 90 degrees F the entire drive. The Kenai cooler sat in the back of our SUV right under the rear window. In addition to the cooler insert, my wife put a few ziploc bags of ice cubes in the cooler on top of the frozen food we were transporting in the cooler. When we arrived and opened the cooler around 15 hours later, the bagged ice cubes were 100% frozen still and not a drop of water appeared in any of the bags. I was beyond amazed.
SoNaLVR –
I have no complaints about this product. Well made and keeps items cold. I keep it in my car all the time as I live in a hot climate and need it when I go shopping. It is very roomy. Bigger than I thought. I use refreezaable ice blocks. which are nice too.
Jeff Krause –
I really like the quality of the build. If I am comparing to a Yeti or any of those style of coolers, I would say save some money and go this route. The problem with any of these coolers is to get the 5 days, they want you to pre-cool, use block ice, use dry ice, any keep out of the sun. I bought it for my boat. It keeps ice from melting slower than in a Igloo or Coleman but, don’t expect miracles.
M. Blair –
Great cooler. Holds a large bag of ice for 3 days.
Mt Baby Mama –
We bought this brand because it’s made in the USA. Shipped super fast and we received 7-10 days earlier than Amazon estimated. Will update after camping this weekend to rate how well it keeps ice, but happy with initial impression of construction, even the latches which others had complained about (although would be nice to be able to bear proof if needed). Also I thought the Kenai 45 included the inside basket. A little annoyed it’s not included and we need to buy separately.
UPDATE: We still had loose ice cubes from our freezer in this cooler after 3 days of 90 degree weather, lots of openings, and lots of food that doesn’t hold the cold (veggies, etc). We’re happy, well worth the money so far.
M. Larson –
So far,
so GREAT with this! Keeps ice for a good amount of days, I was camping in Arizona and this kept things nice and cool! On par with Yetis, just without the inflated price!
Shaun Vaught –
Only used once, but showing some promise with holding ICE. Held 36 beverages and 32 Lbs of ice in 90+ degree temperatures, for 3 days. That is with a constant opening to retrieve a bev!!
