I’ve had both sizes of TwistTop lids. I’ve had the large for about 3 years now. The twist action seems like it needs “broke in” to work smoothly, but it doesn’t ever seem to break in. The twist action also seems to get stickier with use. The stickiness of the action of twisting usually requires more attention than desirable. If any fluid gets between the two layers of the lid, the lid needs to be disassembled to clean, but it wasn’t designed to be disassembled. Splash proof is all it is. If the cup does end up off level or dropped, it only slows the flow of fluid. Build quality and general use of the lid is excellent, but the twist lock design is pretty weak.
